Finally back in Vegas

Finally back in Vegas

So! Back in Vegas after a couple of days on the road. Unfortunately, Frisco

was pretty cold and the bigger part of the Highway 1 trip was pretty foggy

but it was good fun. Also had the opportunity to visit Pebble Beach which

was cool.

So we have about 10 hours until the Main Event starts for me. It seems like

the structure is pretty aggressive. Only 445 players left of 3.000 after the

first day. I guess you can’t be to lazy if your gonna survive to the second

one. We¹ll see what happends. I’m here to do good deeds and as someone said

before in a comment; “In order to survive you gotta be willing to die”. Keep

your fingers in action!

fireworks but it seems like my internet connection need as much pimping as

the shoes in the shoe garden we visited today. This was a day of city tours…

Not to cheap but well worth the money. I’ll put up all the pictures at

Flickr later. Tomorrow will take us to Monteray over the day. After that it

is time to go back to Vegas, passing through Highway 1 that is supposed to

be one of the worlds most beutiful rides.

The day I traded poker for transvestites and prison

ByJakob Andersson on July 04, 2007

Starting to get poker and WSOP abstinence (ONLY 4 DAYS LEFT!!) this was

a day of sightseeing. We went through the obvious of cable cars, hill

climbing, Golden gate and Alcatraz views (unfortunately tickets are sold out

days in advance for island tours…). The night was spent in the restaurant

Asia SF which have the very interesting concept of asian food with very

talented drags which are serving and also performing every 30 minutes.

This restaurant should definately be visited even if you don’t like drag.

There is a reason they are full every day in the week!

Tomorrow is 4th of July and they say americans have a tendency to become

quite patriotic at times… Went to Texas a couple of years ago at this time

a year so I presume we will see some action!

Buy it, try it, see if you like it.

Today was supposed to be slacker day but after doing a full day of casino

hiking you get pretty wasted. Passed on to one of Vegas Apple stores for

the obvious reasons. iPhone IS the coolest thing. Although it does not have

stuff like 3G, MMS (!), video recording and so on and it do cost ya $599…

Well, well…we’ll see what happens. Being an apple freak I guess I have to buy one no matter.

Went down to the cash games today. I’m not sure if this was a better or

worse table than general here but did have a great time and I will get back

asap when we get back from SF to which we will drive to tomorrow. G’nite!

No luck with the ladies

No luck with the ladies

Thought I was gonna be more nervous when i steped into the poker room that

is fitting a little more than 350 tables. I started out pretty ok. The

competition fitted me quite ok since I had 2-3 guys in front of me that

wasn’t to good and I was in my turn infront of the a little more aggresive

players. I got some decent cards and a number of QQs but in a bad position, I

always seemed to getting 2-3 callers when I raised with them and I always

flopped As and Ks or both which made it pretty hard to get really payed off

with the the good hands I got. My last hand was ofcourse also a QQ. Blinds

were 200/100 and I had about 2000 left. I decided that this was the hand

that was gonna take me back in the tournament or end it for me. I didn’t

want to go all in since a wanted some action to double up. I could only hope

for a good flop. I got one caller on the semi aggresive guy on the button

who had a stack of about 5.000 when I was raising it up with 700, and the

flop came 267 rainbow. I went all in with the rest of my 1.300 since I was

sure I had the best hand. He thinks for 30 seconds, calls with 99. Turn is a

10 and river is an 8 giving him a runner runner straight. Game over.

Not much to add. The competition didn’t scare me to much which is a good

thing for the coming event. Now it’s breakfast time again and the girly and

I is heading down to breakfast to reload for the last day in Vegas before we

head off to San Francisco. I also need to have a look at iPhone in the local

apple store since that little masterpiece was released 2 days ago in the US! :D

Warming up

Warming up

Things didn’t start out very well when the Arlanda flight was stranded due to

a “problem with the lights”. We finally got away 2 hours later and the rest

of the trip including connections was pretty smooth (except for the obvious

minimalistic leg space and the screaming 2 yr olds that always have to be

seated in the row behind). Anyways. Got to the Flamingo about 10PM in the

104 F (almost 40 Celcius) heat (don’t wanna know what it’s gonna be like

during daytime). Sandra and I hit the strip for an hour and then got away to

the registration booth at the Rio. The registration madness continued a bit

but I finally got everything on track. I got my first play date at the Main

Event to the 8th as planed and I also got a seat to event 49 as warm up.

That event starts within 2 hours btw som I better start speeding up things.

You will find a link to the tourny update to the left.
