The beginning and the end

ByJakob Andersson on July 10, 2008

Hi all, trying to push with the hands I got I picked up JJ on the button in the end of the first period. Blinds 500-250 with a 15K stack. Everybody checked to me and I raised. Small blind with about 30K reraised to 5K. I got all in and he calls with A 10 off. An ace hit on the flop and it holds up and it is all over. Thanks for all support and Good luck next year ;)

Day 2

ByJakob Andersson on July 09, 2008

Day 2 starts in about 90 minutes. The field is confirmed to 6.844 players and a little more than 3.000 are still in. The average stack is a little more than 40.000 (compared with my 17.800) and blinds 500-250 with 50 in ante. Will come back with updates asap. Hopefully my card average will change to the better…

First day done

ByJakob Andersson on July 06, 2008

I have had an extreeeeeeemely cold day. Actually quite pathetic. Its so sad I get depressed writing about it so lets just say that I am om 17.500 in chips with 250-500 in blinds coming up on Wednesday which is the start for Day 2b. It doesnt get better after my table neighbout within 10 hours get 5 AA 6 trips 4 full houses (etc etc) and the best hand I get is JJ and 2 AK. Tilt. I guess this is not my tournament so far but I am more than happy to change table before Wednesday. Ill be back!!

Game day?

ByJakob Andersson on July 05, 2008

Sorry for the lousy updates the last couple of days. Bizzy times ;) I finally got the confirmation for my starting day which was the 6th. The funny(?) thing is that when I showed up the the registration with my confirmation number they tell me that I have been moved to the 5th which is tomorrow. TILT! How badly organized can they possibly be?!?! Luckily i DID go there yesterday and I can just imagine the poor people they might have moved without telling also coming in just to be told they have been blinded off in 5 hours… So, tomorrow it is. Chip counts here. The simple strategy will be to have a good juicystack after day one or none at all. Laters…;)

On the way

ByJakob Andersson on June 29, 2008

You can find the official schedule here and I will come back with an update as soon as pokerroom let me know what day I will play.Cheers for now.

7 days to go

ByJakob Andersson on June 22, 2008

7 days to go and everything seem to be set. The hotel to be is the Mandalay Bay and next Sunday we will finally head off. I have been quite easy on the cards this week as the Euro 2008 is taking some of the attention. But I guess that little distraction is all over now. Hopefully the russians will prove themselves even further in the tournament so we can tap eachother Swedish shoulders with the comon understanding that we didn’t suck competely after all. Instead let’s enjoy this little “old school” Zlatan clip. Its still quite fun… ;)

Another scandal and another Crap(py) bet

ByJakob Andersson on June 14, 2008

A bit late but it is still worth another comment. As a follow up of the Absolute Poker scandal, yet another site has been caught with “Super user accounts” that make it possible for the user to see all the opponents cards (search on youtube for the Absolute Poker examples). The “new” site is the Phil Helmuth branded Ultimate bet which have the same owners that Absolute poker (oups…) Undisputable evidence can be found here and the general advice would be to switch sites asap.

Also, as a comment for today (Quote from Cardplayer) on Daniel Negreanu’s victory in WSOP event 20: “After hugging his mother and high-fiving the crowd, Negreanu exclaimed, “Negreanu - 1, Ivey - 0.” Negreanu is referring to his prop bet with Phil Ivey, involving who would win the most bracelets at thes year’s series. Ivey must now match Negreanu, or else be out $200.000″. Looks like Ivey is doing more bad bets than on Craps.
Now, go and have a great WE!

Casino Meyhem and Lasse Grankvist

ByJakob Andersson on June 11, 2008

I went for a 3 hour hit and run at the casino after dinner to kill some time. Pending between absolute coma and mega fishing action the most “interesting” hand without contest was the following; UTG raises and he gets reraised. Two callers on the reraise and then two all ins (yes it is a bit messy and it gets worse. To cut to the chase; the second all in has the button and a full buy in. He gets called by two players (whereof two small stacks) The board shows only low cards with 10 high and the first all in fellow (the guy that went all in with one all in after 2-3 reraises and an all) shows J 10 off…and all the other folds. LOL.

I also run across this Youtube clip; another classic delivered by Lasse Grankvist after the second goal in the first EURO 2008 game for the yellowish Swedes…

Take two…

ByJakob Andersson on June 09, 2008

As I just won a pokerroom.com $17.500 worth package to this years main event , I better celebrate it with re-opening this little hi end, self righteous piece of poor excuse for a blog. However, the Vegas trip was already booked anyways, but it will hopefully be cheaper this way… The fine crew of Pokerroom even made it the “front news” on the site when “Stakeajake coming all the way back from the short stack at the final table to be in the thick of thing”. Isn’t it cute? ;)  WORTH TO MENTION for the interested is that PR is the only Ongame skin that have a number of $500 WSOP satellites each week which really do have some good value (and for the cheaper lads; if $500 burns to much, yes there is $50 rebuy sat’s  several times a day ;))
